Chronic Pain Support at Bay Area Brain Spa
What if your pain isn’t just in your body?
Chronic pain is one of the most common and most misunderstood conditions affecting people today. The CDC estimates that 1 in 5 Americans live with chronic pain — and yet conventional medicine often runs out of answers, leaving people cycling through medications, procedures, and treatments that provide temporary relief at best.
What the research increasingly shows is that chronic pain — especially pain that persists long after an injury has healed — is often rooted in the central nervous system. Your brain becomes overprotective of an area that was once injured. It continues sending pain signals even when the tissue has fully recovered. The pain is real. But its source is neurological, not structural.
This is called central sensitization — and it’s one of the most important things to understand about chronic pain. It’s also why so many people find that treating only the body isn’t enough.
At Bay Area Brain Spa, we approach chronic pain from both directions: the nervous system and the body. Together.
Neurofeedback — Our First Recommendation for Chronic Pain
When your nervous system is stuck in a pain loop, neurofeedback is often the most impactful place to start.
Neurofeedback helps your brain recognize its own patterns in real time — and when it does, it naturally begins to reorganize toward more efficient, less reactive states. For chronic pain clients, this can mean a reduction in the hypersensitivity that amplifies pain signals, a quieting of the stress response that keeps the body on high alert, and in some cases, a dramatic shift in pain levels — even where no remaining physical injury exists.
We have seen pain that had no structural cause — back pain, nerve pain, tension-held pain — simply turn off after a neurofeedback session. Not because we treated the pain directly, but because the nervous system stopped generating it.
Neurofeedback is effortless. You sit comfortably, listen to music, and your brain does the work. Sessions are 40 minutes. Fully clothed. Non-invasive. No effort required on your part.
For clients who want to do more frequent sessions, we offer neurofeedback home rental — the same system we use in the spa, available to take home for daily training.
Ballancer Pro Lymphatic Drainage
Chronic pain and inflammation are deeply connected. When the lymphatic system is sluggish, inflammatory byproducts accumulate in tissues, contributing to pain, swelling, and stiffness.
The Ballancer Pro compression system gives your body a full lower body lymphatic drainage massage — flushing toxins, reducing inflammation, improving circulation, and relieving pressure in joints and tissues.
Fibromyalgia clients in particular have found meaningful relief with consistent lymphatic drainage sessions. The Ballancer Pro is used by high-profile wellness advocates — including reports that Lady Gaga, who lives with fibromyalgia, swears by compression therapy as part of her pain management. We can’t verify celebrity routines, but we can tell you what we see in our spa: clients with fibromyalgia, chronic inflammation, and systemic pain consistently report feeling lighter, looser, and significantly less uncomfortable after sessions.
We run Ballancer Pro simultaneously with neurofeedback — so in one 40-minute session you’re addressing both the nervous system and the lymphatic system at once.
For clients with full-body lymphatic needs, we can add the compression jacket for complete upper and lower body coverage.
Red Light Therapy
Red and near-infrared light penetrate deep into tissue to stimulate cellular energy production, reduce oxidative stress, and calm inflammation at the source.
For chronic pain clients, red light therapy supports:
- Reduced joint and muscle inflammation
- Improved circulation to painful areas
- Accelerated tissue repair
- Decreased pain sensitivity over time
Sessions are 20 minutes, completely passive, and deeply relaxing. Red light pairs especially well with the HydroMassage Waterbed for a combined session that addresses tension and inflammation together.
PEMF — Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy
PEMF uses electromagnetic pulses to penetrate tissue and stimulate cellular repair at a level that other therapies can’t reach. Our Hot Gemstone PEMF Mat combines pulsed electromagnetic fields with far infrared heat and gemstones for deep tissue relief.
The PEMF mat has a dedicated pain relief setting — many clients with chronic back pain, joint pain, and arthritis find it one of the most immediately effective tools we offer.
BioCharger
BioCharger combines light, frequency, voltage, and PEMF to recharge cellular energy and support the body’s natural healing processes. For pain clients, it has specific frequency protocols including:
- Arthritis Support
- Rheumatoid Assist
- Inflammation Support
- Pain Support
Sessions are 15 minutes and completely passive. BioCharger is an excellent add-on to any visit.
AmpCoil
AmpCoil combines PEMF and sound frequencies with biofeedback to support cellular rebalancing. For chronic pain and inflammation, popular AmpCoil journeys include Pain Relief and Inflammation — targeting the body’s pain and inflammatory pathways directly through frequency-based therapy.
Avacen Thermotherapy
Avacen uses gentle palm-based heat therapy to increase microcirculation and oxygenation throughout the entire body — reducing systemic inflammation and easing pain from the inside out. It’s particularly effective for clients with widespread pain or poor circulation as a contributing factor.
HydroMassage Waterbed
The HydroMassage Waterbed delivers a full-body water massage without getting wet — warm water pressure moves across your body in a deeply relaxing wave pattern that melts tension, reduces muscle stiffness, and promotes circulation. For chronic pain clients who carry significant physical tension, many describe it as the most immediately relieving experience in the spa.

A Note on Our Approach
We don’t diagnose or treat medical conditions. What we offer are powerful, non-invasive wellness technologies that work with your body’s own healing processes. Many of our chronic pain clients work alongside their doctors and physical therapists — our services are complementary to, not a replacement for, your medical care.
What we can offer is a different kind of support — one that addresses the nervous system and the body together, in a calm and welcoming environment where you don’t have to explain yourself or justify your pain to anyone.
You’re welcome here exactly as you are.
