Salt Booth & Dry Salt Therapy (Halotherapy)

Breathe easier in just 10 minutes with concentrated dry salt therapy.

If you’ve been searching for a salt room, salt lounge, salt cave, or salt therapy in the East Bay, our private salt booth offers all the benefits in a faster, more focused session.

At Bay Area Brain Spa in Albany, our SALT Booth® distributes micronized, medical-grade salt into a small, enclosed chamber. The salt concentration stays high, giving you a true therapeutic dose in just 10 minutes—much stronger and more efficient than most salt lounges or salt rooms.

Also known as a salt room, salt lounge, or salt cave, dry salt therapy (halotherapy) supports sinus health, lung comfort, skin clarity, and overall wellness.

What Is a Salt Booth?

Salt Booth at Bay Area Brain Spa

A salt booth is a private, enclosed chamber where medical-grade salt is crushed into a fine aerosol and dispersed into the air. Because the chamber is small, the salt concentration remains high—resulting in more targeted and effective benefits in less time.

Many clients prefer this private format because it is quiet, fast, and easy to add before or after other services.

Salt Booth vs. Salt Lounge (Salt Room)

Bay Area Brain Spa Halotherapy Dry Salt Booth

Salt Booth (Bay Area Brain Spa)

  • 10-minute private session
  • Higher salt concentration
  • Strong, efficient, therapeutic dose
  • No shared space
  • Great before or after other services

Salt Lounge / Salt Room
• 20–45 minute shared/group session
• Lower salt concentration
• Gentler, “relaxation-focused” experience
• More time needed for similar benefits

Both are helpful, but our salt booth is ideal if you want quick, private, effective salt therapy.

What to Expect

  • Your session is 10 minutes inside our private SALT Booth®
  • You sit comfortably while micronized salt is dispersed around you
  • Just breathe normally and relax
  • Many clients notice easier breathing, clearer sinuses, and improved skin after their session
  • You may taste a light salt residue—that simply means the therapy is working

Salt therapy pairs well after neurofeedback, lymphatic drainage massage, red light therapy, PEMF, and NanoVi.

How Dry Salt Therapy Works

halotherapy

Dry salt therapy—also known as halotherapy—uses crushed pharmaceutical-grade salt that is ground into microscopic particles and dispersed into the air. Inside the salt booth, these ultra-fine salt particles are inhaled into the lungs and also land on the skin.

Salt is naturally anti-inflammatory, absorbent, and antimicrobial, which is why halotherapy can support:

  • Thinning and loosening mucus
  • Clearing the airways
  • Reducing respiratory irritation
  • Calming inflammation in the sinuses and lungs
  • Balancing skin moisture and reducing irritation

Because the salt booth is a small, enclosed space, the concentration of micronized salt is much higher than in a large salt room — meaning you receive a true therapeutic dose in just 10 minutes.

For best results, the Salt Therapy Association recommends a series of treatments. Some individuals prefer to use Dry Salt Therapy as a continuous preventative measure.

Why Salt Therapy Is Great for East Bay Living

The East Bay experiences seasonal allergens, wild-fire smoke, mold exposure, urban dust, and fluctuating air quality. Dry salt therapy can help gently clear the airways, reduce inflammation, and support natural respiratory comfort.

Salt Therapy FAQs

Halotherapy is a dry salt therapy that utilizes a halogenerator to grind and crush salt into micronized particles that are dispersed into the SALT Booth® via a dry salt aerosol that works to aid respiratory concerns and skin conditions. If there is no halogenerator, there is no halotherapy.

Since cubic airspace is smaller inside a SALT Booth® as opposed to a Salt Room, the customer experiences a higher concentration level of salt, and only 10-minute sessions are needed to experience the full effect of Dry Salt Therapy.

Loose, comfortable, light-colored clothing that you can relax in works best. If you are using Dry Salt Therapy for a skin condition, you’ll want to have that area exposed.

Based on your condition and symptoms, this can vary. For best results, the Salt Therapy Association recommends a series of treatments. Some individuals prefer to use Dry Salt Therapy as a continuous preventative measure.

There are no potentially harmful side effects of Dry Salt Therapy. The treatment is completely natural. A slight cough or a runny nose is possible, but this is simply the salt working to remove mucus and toxins from the lungs and airways.

Salt heals and has been used for generations!

In 1843, a Polish physician Felix Boczkowski first wrote about the benefit of salt mines. He noted that salt miners had much lower rates of lung disease compared to the rest of the population. He attributed the cause of the salt miners’ good health to the salt cave air that was saturated with saline dust. Soon Halotherapy (“Halos” means “Salt” in Greek) became a common drug-free treatment for many chronic lung and skin conditions.

Speleotherapy was a popular medical treatment and is still used to this day!
